There is no cost for faculty members to use the Instructional Technology Center except for operational charges for consumable supplies, such as printer toner, paper, and transparencies. These charges will enable the lab to be self-supporting as much as possible.
If faculty or staff members do not have time to produce materials themselves, it may be possible to have staff members produce these materials for them for a nominal fee. The work load of staff members will determine whether or not this service will be available.
The Instructional Technology Center is a central lab where many kinds of information resources are available to promote the educational growth of the faculty and staff at Dixie College and to encourage excellence in teaching.
The purposes of the Center are to increase faculty and staff knowledge of current educational technologies, to provide training in the use of educational technologies, to encourage sharing of innovative and effective instructional techniques and media, to provide access to expensive multimedia production equipment and software that may be unavailable elsewhere on campus, and to provide assistance in designing and producing instructional materials.
Faculty and staff members doing work related to teaching or personal development may use the facilities in the Center. Students will not be allowed in the lab unless they are working jointly with a faculty or staff member on an instructional product which will be used in a course. Written permission from the faculty or staff member is required.
The Center is available for faculty and staff use from 8:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday. It is located in the Udvar Hazy Business Building, room 148 (NW corner, 1st floor). It is best to call before you come to make sure someone will be there to let you in and help you.
